We have moved past this idea that truth is relative, in our Judeo-Christian culture. Today, people don't say, "Your truth is not my truth" nor do they say, "My truth may not be your truth". No longer is truth determined by what we ourselves perceive to be true. Actually, it's gotten worse. We are now officially in what's called the "Expressive Individualism" times. This is the place where we as a culture agree that truth is now not unknowable, but rather it's found within us! The problem with this theory is that if we truly believe we can look inside of ourselves to find truth, we'll see that not only will it still be "my truth" but also, it will be just as corrupt, wicked, deceitful, and evil as we are! Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?" Then Jeremiah states in the next verse, "But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives". We will never find absolute, authentic truth looking within. It is only found by accepting, embracing, and living in response to what God says in His Word. The fact is that truth starts by acknowledging the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the reality of our need for a Savior. It's not us who leads us into truth, it is the Spirit of the Living God, who died for us even though He didn't deserve it and rose again that we too may have newness of life, this thing we call being reborn or born of the Spirit and all we have to do is believe! If we are looking for truth in ourselves, we will deceive ourselves into believing a lie. However, if we look to God and understand what allows Him to be absolute truth, is the fact He is Holy and we are not. It is by His way, that we find The truth, and that we can live The Life He called us to. So even though we are in a Post-Relativism world right now, we know that the message of Bible is just as relevant as it's even been!
